Zanac "appreciation" thread.....
Recently played through Gun-Nac. Great game (beat it. Now I'm playing this. This one feels a little rougher. And not as pretty. Just a harsh ass shmup. You get no bombs. One button B is you main gun, think bullets and A is your special gun. Again in this game it is just generic numbers you pick up on the screen. This game will have you screaming NO!!!! I've only made it to level 4. This game is tough. I heard theres 10 or 12 levels. Fudge! I seen some videos where they use the 2, think force field. I was liking 3 again, imagin that. This time 3 is a ball that spins around the ship. I also liked 6 or 7. Shoots mainly forward back and forth. What do you think about this one?

I did recently played Gyruss for the first time yesterday and I was blown away by the fact that it's such an awesome game yet NO ONE talks about it. There's not many games like it. I wish there were more.
I love Gyruss! It was one of the 10 or so cabs we always had in our basement as a kid. My parents owned an arcade in the early to mid 90s, but we kept some personal favorite at home.
I have spent SO many hours playing that! I actually had no idea it was made for any home console!
I got to level 8 once. This one is a beast. 2 things I noticed. A couple times I have gotten my bullet gun to do 3 shot but not the normal skiny 3 shot. They where spread out. Wonder if that has to do with the weird happy face guy you'll see sometimes. Think he's blue and if you shoot him he turns red. Think he might give you an extra man. Also 1 time I found a fairy and she followed me until the end of the level. What the hell was that?

The thing that interested me about Zanac is how it modifies the difficulty depending on how much you shoot. I gave it a serious try but just wasn't enthusiastic about it. I am currently enjoying Burai Fighter, though.
@zing the link I posted above has tons of info on the intricacies of the game. When you get into how the game ticks it is defintly a strange one.
Just finished Gun Nac yesterday. Great game. I'm kinda doing a chain thing here. I guess. Next is Gyruss.

Also Zanac is a B! I got to the last boss twice. 1st time he got him to his 2nd form and he destroyed me. 2nd time got him to his 2nd form blew up 2 of 4 of him things and died. Now I can't seem to even get to him. Wish me luck.
This is definitly harder than GUN-Nac.
Gun Nac was hard but it was short and not nearly as tough on you as Zanac could be.
Zanic has all sorts of fun gliches like turning the nes deck on and off multiple times quickly to warp and get a really high score, using the zapper bug with one of the sub weapons (I dont remember what one). of course the holding down of the A/B buttons to play as a different ship model (not really a bug but cool)
