Konami Justifier SNES

I bought a NES/SNES bundle which included a Konami Justifier and the game Lethal Enforcers, and was excited most about that game/gun since I has this when I was a kid.

At first nothing would happen when I pulled the trigger, turns-out the trigger button was faulty and I replaced that. After that, the shooting sound happened and screen flashed when I pulled the trigger, but there were no registered hits on screen.

Then I read that I need to turn up the brightness on my CRT TV for it to work, I did that and it started working kinda, but only when the gun is within 1 foot from the screen, and sometimes the shot wont register even within 1 foot from the screen.

Has anyone else had this problem with the gun, I know its an aging piece of hardware, but an awesome piece of hardware too.

Thanks alot.

  • What kind of TV are you playing it on? If it's one of the newer model HDMI or Plasma TVs I I'm pretty sure it doesn't work, since the game was made 20 years ago. Try an older model TV like you had back I ln the day and I'm pretty sure you'll get it working. If so then the one foot away thing sounds right, just have to remember that this was new technology back then too so yea it's not nearly as good as what we have now

I still Play this game at the arcade when I go. Such a classic
  • It worked fine on my old one. Sorry I can't help you, but I don't have a ton of ideas. I'd just mess with the TV settings more. If it has modes like a wega, make sure it's vivid possibly.
  • Im using an old school CRT, not a new flat screen LCD or plasma. Ive tried both my TVs and same thing.

If I CRANK the brightness it works ok to shoot from a foot away, but it sometimes doesnt register the hit.
  • Perhaps the photo-transistor may have degraded sensitivity over the years ??

  • Have you checked the "lens" on the gun for dirt? Probably smudged if it's been laying in an attic or garage for several years.
  • Yeah, thats a good suggestion, I should have mentioned that I had actually cleaned the "lens" with a Q-tip, I thought it may help, but it actually didnt look dirty to begin with, anyways it didnt help   Thanks for the suggestions.
