Castlevania Dracula X Operation!

I NEED YOU GUYS TO HELP ME STEP BY STEP!

Ok so yesterday I won a CIB copy OF Castlevania X for quite a deal actually and now I'm here worried as hell about the removal of these stickers as shown in the picture.

I have the following tools for the job:

-Air Dryer

-Magic Eraser

-Goo Gone

-Some Q-Tips

-White shirt for drying

I am new to some of the products like the magic eraser and goo gone.

I've seen more pictures of the game and it's in freakin amazing condition, and I wanna prevent making the condition of the game go from "very good" to "Acceptable".

I can easily remove the stickers in the cart with my air dryer but I'm more worried on how to remove that one sticker in the box than the one's on the manual.

Please help me understand on where to begin and start!

  • I would say to stay away from using a magic eraser on anything, unless you are using it extremely lightly. It sorta 'sands' it down..if that makes sense, it will dull the plastic on a cart - never used it on a box.

The rental stickers on the cart are easy though..I usually just peel those off and then rub the residue off with a paper towel and some goo gone (keep the goo gone away from the label though).
  • I'm wondering if VGA has a type of service where they can remove the stickers for you. They do a great job at removing stickers from cellophane so why not a cartridge or manual. I would call them and ask.
  • Just buy a new Manual. This guys manuals are junked up and stickered.

The carts he sells also have one or 2 sticker on the back of the cart. So you'll have to replace the back label also. Can be done.

The box is very nice with minimal sltickers , and can be removed fairly easily without causing damage. But it must be done carefully
  • Personally, I don't know if I would attempt it, good luck!
  • Yeah, I don't know I'll even bother with the manual

But the box is in SUCH GOOD condition, what's the best method to get rid of the white sticker?

    Goo Gone?
  • slowly peeling it back.. and stopping if you see any damage

ive done it with a few of his boxes and it turned out fine, lol why all the chemicals?
  • I'd heat it up first, even if it's only to 100 degrees or so.
  • Would a watered Q-tip genital scrape be a bad idea?
  • I don't think I would mess with it. I'd be so nervous trying not to mess anything up that I'd probably slip and smash the box and then accidentally rip and tear up the manual. Then I'd be so mad at myself that I would probably sit the cart on the drive way and run over it.

  • water + cardboard boxes is almost always a bad idea..

hasnt that sticker lost most of its life anyway? i did this a few months back any they basically came right off, have you tried yet?

I'm too nervous  to do a gentle finger nail scrape bro. If you look at the pic closely, you can see the sticker on the box is just like very in there.

    lolwut?

  • Fucking computer, I thought I auto corrected that to "gentle". Sorry about that.
  • Hairdryer. As long as nobody else has tried to peel them up, they should come off without tearing anything. Practice on the cart first, as those will come off the easiest.
  • soak the bitch with goo gone. No but seriously put a little goo gone on it and let it sit about 10-20 minutes and hopefully it will slide right off.
  • I use the fingernail method with great success on boxes. Examples include getting stickers off Sculptor's Cut boxes. However, that manual is a lost cause. The reason many of his auctions go "cheaply" is because many people don't want to bother trying with that removal.

I'm pretty certain you could get that sticker off the box though. It's not bad. Use a hairdryer to heat it up, then fingernail to get it peeling, and just peel very slowly while using the hairdryer.

That's exactly what I do. Heat the sticker up and peel it slowly and put a little goo gone on a paper towel and gently wipe any residue off. The cart is a piece of cake; I'd go for the manual though. Heat those bad boys and give it a shot just go extra slow on those.

  • Butane lighter fluid and a hair dryer will work in many cases on a box and manual. The lighter fluid dries so quick it doesnt have time to soak into the paper.
  • I don't have any lighter fluid ;/ so I'll try the heat it up with the hair dryer and nail trick.

Is there a certain amount I should keep using the hair dryer on it?

Well Goo Gone leave a stain or something if I use it?

I don't use a timer or anything; I would recommend just every 20 seconds or so feel the sticker and if it feels hot then you should be fine to start peeling. Not sure on the goo gone part though.

  • I'll let you guys know the after looks later.
  • Goo gone can and will stain the box and manual if left on too long.

Any updates man? Pretty curious to see how it turned out
  • Fuck man, I cannot believe, sigh, I'll upload pics soon with a clip. ;/
  • Doesn't sound good. But I'm pretty sure Dracula has resurrected every time he's been killed thus far =D
  • i just did one of his boxes again yesterday, sticker came right off, hardly and residue left over, no wear to box, the manuals are a lost cause though.

    what did you do!?
  • First, I want you guys to check the first clip of the beginning

  • Nice job man!
