  • Use the cleanest cart you have and put some iso alchohol and insert/take out rapidly.

Also, I've heard people use some cardboard.

Clipping the lockout chip doesn't hurt either.
  • so just soak the cart with alcohol ??
  • Just take a q-tip and apply a reasonable amount.  No need to submerge the cart, or pour it or anything.

Isopropyl, not the stuff you drink.

you mean i cant use gin to clean the games either??
  • Actually gin would probably work, but I'd use vodka it's basically 40%-60% ethyl alcohol (keep the gin for drinking since there's some flavor to it.)
  • I used whiskey tonight on double dragon 2 tonight at my buddy's house. worked great I kid you not.

why not open it and clean it?
  • Have you tried the boiling the pins trick? I saw you post in that thread that you were going to try that a while back
  • If you want to do it right, open the system and clean the connector with alcohol+a tooth brush, and then clip the lockout. That's the real fix for blinking. But the cart+alcohol+qtip/cloth will work for a short term fix.
  • i was thinking about picking up another used nes to take apart first. i dont want to take my only one apart and mess something up and be left without any way to play the carts. i want to get a used nes and maybe refurb and paint it as sort of a hobby / project
  • It's 6 screws for the case, that'll drop off the top, then a bunch of screws for the shielding, put those aside in their own pile too, then remember the order for the ones on the connector. It's very very simple.
  • ^ he's right ya know easy breezy. There are videos on you tube that will show how to take apart and clean it up pretty simple.
  • i was thinking i might try bending the pins first instead of boiling
  • I think boiling would probably work better/be safer
