Help! Can't sign-in to Ebay...

So, several days ago, I suddenly couldn't sign-in to ebay anymore. I just get "This webpage is not available" and the following details:

"The server at signin.ebay.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network."

Nothing else is giving me any problems whatsoever. I can browse ebay all I want, but it won't let me sign-in. Any help would be much appreciated. Note: I tried Internet Explorer and it didn't work either.

  • Call them.
  • If I had to guess, it seems like you have "https" sites blocked.

This could be caused by a security setting on your end. Test another site that brings you to and https... go to google and click sign in and see what happens... doesn't matter if you have a google account or not.
  • try it on someone else computer too if you can sign in their name and not yours then thats at least telling you something.
  • It lets me sign into google just fine. I seriously think ebay sign-in is the only thing I can't do. It won't even let me get to the sign-in page. Soon as I click "sign in" it redirects me to the error page. Weird.

I could sign in just fine at work (on a different computer). I'm sure it can be fixed, but I just don't know what is going on.

this is the url it directs me to...

    https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2F
  • I had a problem like this with youtube and google. I had to delete my internet cache as well as my cookies and it worked.
  • I've cleared the cache and cookies and it still isn't working. Ive ran a plethora of anti-virus/spyware/malware programs and nothing has came up. I need to get into my ebay account and can't find a solution anywhere on the web. Shit has put me in a bad mood for sure!
  • so this URL never works?

    https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn

Have you run all windows based Virus/spyware/malware?

Might wanna look up Rescue CD and boot into one of those.
  • This happened to me before! I had no clue what to do and when I woke up the next morning it worked just fine. I never did find out what was wrong. I couldn't sign in on my phone AP, mobile site, full site from my phone, or the full site from my computer. Maybe it will fix itself like mine did?
  • I can sign into ebay on my 3DS, but I can't sign into my Paypal on my 3DS because I use a "~" in my password. For some reason my 3DS only allows me to use the "ABC" tab when I'm signing into Paypal. The symbols tab isn't highlight-able (made-up word, lol). Here is what I get whenever I click that link paul:

    "This webpage is not available

The server at signin.ebay.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.

    Here are some suggestions:

    Reload this webpage later.

Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.

Check your DNS settings. Contact your network administrator if you're not sure what this means.

Try disabling network prediction by following these steps: Go to the wrench menu > Options > Under the Hood and deselect "Predict network actions to improve page load performance." If this does not resolve the issue, we recommend selecting this option again for improved performance.

Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.

If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the wrench menu > Options > Under the Hood > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox.

    Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_R"

Every time I get this. Its been doing it for several days now.
  • I still can't sign-in. This is such a pain. It seems that none of the computers in my house (three different laptops) will allow me to sign-in. However, my 3DS will sign-in. WTF is going on? Anyone have a clue?
  • Have you tried signing in a different Ebay?

    Try

    Ebay.co.uk

    Ebay.de

I think it's just something in your browser.

When all else fails, contact them. You might even have to do a change of password.
  • I thought it was the browser too, but I've tried four different browsers and no dice. I suppose I'll just have to call them.
  • Wow. Just got done with ebay and they basically have no clue. I also found that I cannot access racketboy, gametz, or atariage. Is there something that all these sites have in common from a technical standpoint? I'm currently dealing with the team over at bleepingcomputer to see if it is spyware, malware, virus related. They seem to be taking their time responding though.
  • That's your internet sucking, nothing on their side of things. I'd reset your routers/modems and check to make sue that they're not blocked or anything.
  • I've reset my routers and modems. I know it isn't my internet because it only does it on those specific sites. I also play MW3 online with absolutely no problems, so my connection is perfectly fine.
  • Bleepingcomputer got me set straight. It appears my router configuration had been changed at some point. Probably a drunken night...who knows, lol. This topic can be locked now. Thanks for your input everyone!
