nes toaster loadin tray drama. stays in the down locked position

I have had this issue several times over the years ....corrected by properly fitting the little slot over the motherboard  as it should. However, this bastard stays locked at times only to come up when it wants to. Any  USEFUL INPUT TO KILL THIS DRAMA  WELCOMED! Thanks!

  • Screws are too tight. Untighten them a bit and it will work as it is supposed to.

Did that already OITD and all of the other light englist methods (still no  dice).!  Found one of my 72 pins that works from the up position . Still would like input for future reference.  Thanks OITD
  • Interesting.. Check the spring? Make sure it didn't dislodge from the plastic pins?

Check see if another assembly will work.

Stumped me if it's not the screws, that always gets me on reassembly.
  • I've had the latch on one of mine filled with gunk doing the same thing. I just took it apart and cleaned it up. Worked good as new.
  • No gunk! Also , it does the same thing without screws in them.
  • Could be that stupid little metal hook thing that goes up and down in the plastic groove. The plastic groove is supposed to be V shaped at the bottom but sometimes it gets beat up and can make the little metal guide hook stick on it leaving the tray stuck down.
