Good place to get a PS3 component cable?

My tv does 720p so I'm looking for a component cable that will do that for my ps3. I found one here for about $4 that claims to support that quality of video:

Just wondering if this is a reliable description because most of the really cheap component cables for the playstation only support 480, or at least from what ive seen.

I also want to get one for my PS2 though I guess it doesn't matter because the PS2 only does 480, correct?

I bought one on Amazon for around $4 shipped.

FYI - It's the same component as the PS2...all component cables are the same.

EDIT - I bought these and from eForCity

  • You use it for your PS3 with 720p or greater? I just want to make sure I get the right one, I had a problem before with buying a cable that only supported 480.
  • All component cables are the same.

The PS2 and PS3 component connections are identical.

The output is dependent on the hardware not the cables.

You probably bought composite cables before.
  • Composite:

  • This type of thing isn't my specialty really, I thought it had more to do with the actual cable, I had bought a component cable but I guess the description was just misleading? Thanks for the help though, I'll buy a couple from the amazon link you showed me.
  • You said that your television supports 720p.

Are you sure you don't have HDMI?

If so, I think an HDMI cable would better suit you.
  • It does though I don't really see it worth it. I have composite right now so I definitely need component, I just don't see HDMI as a huge step above component. I assume you're only talking about ps3.
  • Yeah for PS3, the price difference is only a few bucks...why not buy one of the cables that will be relevant in the future?

The HDMI is actually cheaper.  I'd again suggest eForCity.

EDIT - Again, just to clarify...all HDMI cables are the same.
  • www.monoprice.com is also a great site for stuff like this. In this case I think the link Muthafodder provided is cheaper.
  • definitely go HDMI over component, if your TV supports it.
  • Just to add to what everybody said, HDMI, and not only that, but your HDMI cable will be compatible with every other HDMI device you have/will have, as opposed to your component cable only working on PS2/PS3 (can probably stick the flat end into a ps1, but doubt that would work anyway). Also with HDMI, your ps3 should auto-detect which mode your TV supports (480p, 720p) saving you the trouble of setting that up, seeing as you said this type of stuff isn't your strong point.

Downside with HDMI? Wont work with your PS2. So if you wanna get the best pictures out of your PS2, you'll have to get a ps2/ps3 component cable too.
  • go to the dollar store. they're up there for 2$ and in good quality. that's were i got mine.
