Anyone know about TI-99 computer systems/games?

Someone on Craigslist near me has a TI-99/4a & TRS-80 computer systems, speech synthesizer, microphone and games. Unfortunately, I know nothing about it.

So I was wondering if it I should pick it up to sell for profit, or if any collectors here would be interested in it?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

  • TRS-80 is very broad. I know 6809 assembly for the TRS-80 Color Computer and know how to use it's basic. I also own a TI-99/4a with full documentation, besides the CPU. But I know the CPU it uses is pretty custom and from what I saw was a very good processor, lots of registers and instructions.

As for both computers prices, if the games are carts, I'd say $0.25-$0.50 per cart is a good price that you may be able to make money off of. Not 100% sure, but I'd probably pay it. Although I'd also want to warn you, if you don't sell them at once, you'll probably sit on a lot of carts forever. As for disks with games, they're basically worthless if he has any. As for the TRS-80, You have to get the model. TRS-80 can be one of about 4 completely different computers.
  • I think that they have the manuals too. But the guy wants $50 for all the guys and both computers, so that's probably way too much and I'll just have to pass on it.

    Thanks for the help!
  • I mean, this could be a $80+ lot, I think the TI-99/4a is a okay deal, but the model/computer that the "TRS-80" is is what makes or break the lot IMO. If it's a Model with the monitor in it, I'm not sure about the price, I'd research on ebay some. As for Color Computer 1 or 2, I'd pass. If it's a 3 though, I'd pick this lot up myself.
  • http://mankato.craigslist.org/vgm/2907287834.html is the link. There are pictures there, and so based on that it looks like a model 1 to me.
  • Yeah, it's a Color Computer 1, not a Model one, the difference is HUGE, not even the same computer. But yeah, I'd toss it around if you wanted the computers, but for reselling, I myself would probably pass too.
  • Haha, well my bad. I didn't know anything about these until I saw that ad :-p.

    Thanks for the help!
