Great addicting games.

Games are like an addiction to me. I've been gaming as early as 3 years old and had been grounded for playing too much of it. Through out the years, ive played tons of video games but not all of them gave me the real satisfaction, the fun and amusement. I want to know what are the games that you guys find to be the most enjoyable, the one that really worth all the money and time for it. A game that is so good, you literally couldnt put the controller down until you've finish the game and collect all the items and such. For me, contra and batman comes to mind. I was 5 when i played this game and was able to beat it and repeat it again for numerous time. Metroid and zelda games are also up there for me. I'm currently playing the prime series and man am i not dissapointed. Current gen games that are fit to my criteria are infamous, mario galaxy and the god of war series. Other games that i really enjoy playing are final fantasy tactics, etrian odyssey, the first resident evil, symphony of the night, megaman series, and picross. These are games that i could play on and on without bored. So, tell me what yours are.

  • I go through phases where I prefer a certain genre of games. Right now, since the release of Street Fighter x Tekken, I have been playing fighting games. I've mixed it up between SFxT and Tekken 6 lately.

I don't play alot of RPGs but I got my own copy of Earthbound and have sunk about 10 hours in last week alone. I don't really get addicted to RPGs as much as I have a on again off again relationship with them lol.
  • The new tile-based version of DoomRL has had me sucked in, big time...

What game is this. Sounds interesting.

Im into fighting games as well. Street fighter 3rd strike never get enough out of me. I cant wait to get my hands on this new streetfighter vs tekken.
  • I would definatle agree with you as far as Zelda and Metroid.. I couldn't put them down as a kid and even now when I put them in I easily get sucked in a for a few days.
  • Shining Force on the Game Gear. For the NES I enjoy Contra, Metal Gear, Panic Restaurant, and Little Samson. As for current gen stuff, very little captures my attention. In the past year or so I'd say Resident Evil 5, Skyrim, and Castle Crashers took up most of my 360 game time.

Resident Evil 5 didn't hook me in like previous RE games.  I have high hopes for RE6 this fall though.

    Chaosforge.org

The guy there has done rogue-likes of Doom, Aliens, Diablo, and a couple others.

DoomRL is his flagship project, though, and the latest release has upgraded to being tile-based.

    It's wild.

  • Just gonna toss this out there.. newer games, but..

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Never had I been so addicted to a game. With Demon's Souls, I got beat so hard at first.. but for some reason, instead of usually turning off the system and trying the game later as a rest, I kept playing. I don't know what drove me to keep playing or why it was so addictive.. but I did. Demon's Souls was the first game on a console to get over 500 hours out of me. =[
  • nes:

    guardian legend

  • Damn you, Tetris! Its been over 20 years and I still cant quit.
  • one word sums up game addiction.... Diablo.....
  • ^If we're getting into PC games (and I agree on Diablo), I have to vote for Warcraft III and its expansion pack. That game will suck you in for hours at a time. I used to sit and play it all day long.

YES!! That's what I came into this thread to talk about. I haven't had the pleasure of playing Demon's Souls, but I got Dark Souls for the X360 and it was the most immersive experience I've had in AGES. Spectacular game.

Very true in the case of Diablo II. I'm bored of it now, but I played it religiously for 5 or 6 years. CSS is another culprit, as well as older games like ALttP and Earthbound.

At the moment however, Oblivion has pulled me back in. I seem to be in the minority that I still much prefer it over Skyrim, especially when mods come into play.
  • Fallout 3/New Vegas
  • some newer games for me would be

uncharted 1-2..i assume 3 as well i have not played that one yet

Both batman games as well...even thou i have not played the second one yet??

    This!

I think Tetris is one of the most addicting games. So simple, but so good!

  • Metroid/Super Metroid ... Zelda 1/Link to the past .... Final fantasy vii ... Dragon warrior ... Mike Tyson's punch out. Im sure I could go on.

I don't see the appeal to that game, I spent $20 bucks on Fallout 3 and regretted every penny of it.
  • i'd have to say i like fast moving games like ninja gaiden 1 (using jump n slash of course), contra and super c. i hate being on one screen for too long. i also keep coming back to street fighter 2 (world warrior up to hyper fighting).
  • MVP Baseball 2005 with updated rosters.
  • If we're talking about addicting in a good sense, I'd have to say Ducktales. I can't tell you how many minutes of my life I've spent looking for all of the hidden treasures.

If we're talking about addicting in a worse sense, I'd say any Call of Duty game. I play them because I feel compelled to play them, but I don't think I have fun playing them anymore. It's more of a "go-through-the-guns-and-prestige" kind of thing.
  • i think the most addicting games for me are the gbc pokemon games, and the mortal kombat series
