wholesale videogame sellers

Hey there. I want to start an online business selling PS Vita games and accessories. Do you know good wholesale sellers I can use to get my inventory? I'm interested in 1st party stuff, minus the game systems (memory cards, cables, etc), and 3rd party too... I've been looking into some wholesale sellers sites, but they don't seem to give significant discounts on stuff, compared to retail.

I found one that sells some chinese accessories, looks promising, but I really want to sell Sony stuff, like official cases, and memory cards, specially 32 GB ones, which aren't easily available here.

Also, if you know of some innovative products related to the Vita, cool accessories, etc... for which I can make a direct deal with the people that made them, let me know! Thnx.

  • Nobody gets a significant discount, relative to retail, on new video game software.

Even the big guys aren't making much more than 5-10% margin depending on the system.

Edit:  also, what's a commie doing trying to undertake a capitalist enterprise?
  • You can get accessories for very cheap but only if you buy in bulk (i.e. 1000+ pieces) or spend a lot of money in a short period of time. Innex is a decent site for accessories that a lot of game stores use but I believe you have to spend quite a bit of cash to get a decent discount. If you want to get a good wholesale price on 5 or so different items you should plan on having at least $10,000 USD to spend.

As for games I think you can get away with a much smaller quantity but the discount is close to what arch said, I think game stores pay $52-$55 for $59.99 new releases (but occasionally you can find clearance prices on crappy new games).
  • Yeah, I'm becoming aware (by reading more) that profit margins in games aren't so good. I have like 5,000 space-bucks to spend. Maybe I should specialize in just one tipe of accessory first. I wanted to have a wide range of products, to become a "Vita" specialist, but now it seems I have to focus my savings into something more narrow, and start expanding from that.

I'm thinking of offering Zagg's Invisible Shield for the Vita, it appears I can make direct arrangements with them. That's one product I'm sure will be a good seller here.

Arch, I have to start thinking into establish a more or less income source, if I don't find a job as a scientist in the short or mid-term. Also, I want to have kids, and those are expensive . Finally, as we don't live in a communist world, I have to establish petty goals such as making enough money to live securily (health, education, overall wellbeing), for me, my wife, and future offspring. Oh well...
