Suggestion: Maximum of 1 Auction at a time per person in NA Auctions?

The NA auction subforum isn't nearly as active as the WTB / FS forum, but it also has taken off drastically from when it was established.  Auctions used to stay on the front page for most of their duration, but now live auctions are quickly getting buried into page two.

Doesn't really affect me in anyway, but I thought it might be fair for everyone to keep their current auctions to one thread.  You could still run multiple auctions within your thread by having multiple pics and multiple start bids, but making extra threads seems unnecessary.

Thoughts?

  • That seems to fair to me, 1 active auction thread per member at a time. I see a lot of members combine multiple auctions into one thread anyway. I don't think your suggestion is out of line.
  • I agree, i noticed a few members doing that, and a few making 2+ posts for their 2+ items they are selling. Be nice to see all the active auctions on one page and what not
  • Makes sense to me. The multiple auctions on one thread option has worked well as far as I've seen.
  • The only reason I didn't do it that way is because, as a buyer/bidder, I find the multiple auctions in 1 thread to be kind of cluttered and confusing.
  • ^Exactly. It's a nice idea, but I personally wouldn't want to sell my stuff that way.
  • I think we have it set to 3 in the FAQ, which at that time was fine since very few people were auctioning off on NA. I'll let more people chime in before we change it to 1 or 2.
  • I don't see any problem with the way it is now. If the main complaint/reason for changing the rule is so that people can see all the active auctions on a single page....then change your 'topics per page' view to something more then 25. It seems silly to rewrite the rules when the rules are not what is causing the issue.

To be honest, I've seen more of this than I've seen multiple threads.

I have no problem with multiple threads if tthey're different enough.

(In other words, you shouldn't have 2 threads for manual lots, only 1. But again, I don't really see it.)

Maybe in the future if this is brought up again something should be done.

But this seems more like a "this suddenly happened out of nowhere randomly so let's take action" situation.
