N-Gage SIM card rejected

I finally got the Nokia N-Gage in the mail today, and am having a giant problem with it. I tried two different SIM cards, and neither of them worked. The system said SIM card rejected. Does anyone know what I should do? Any help would be greatly apperechated.

  • If the seller used it as a phone is might be locked out.

I dont remember how but there is a way to get around that, might try searching google and see if there are any forums left up that had N-gage support.
  • It was supposed to be unlocked. The description said it was, but since I'm having so much trouble I don't think it is.
  • what provider's SIM are you using? I know they were originally Tmobile & At&t (Cingular) so who knows whats going on.
  • The two I tried were old tracfone ones I had laying around.
  • Did the seller give you the dummy sim that came with the unit so you could atleast power it up and play the games?
  • Sadly no. I don't get why it's so hard to find a N-Gage with SIM card on ebay. It's like everyone selling them don't ever include one.
  • Hmm Call Nokia and see what they can do, if I remember right I think you need that sim to access menus to unlock the phone as a means if your calling sim was lost or stolen. Also get the seller on email and find out if he/she has that or can tell you what they did.

I had an extra one for sooooo long and I think I ended up tossing it out or losing it. I will check my part bin but dont get your hopes up.
  • You could also try a sim from a working phone and see if that works too.
  • After typing this thread up, I got the SIM out of the phone I use and it still didn't work. With contacting Nokia, I got on there site and they don't have anything about the N-Gage in their product archive.
  • Call their customer support.
  • The damn number was going to put me on hold, so I just sent them a email.
  • i have an old tmobile SIM you can have to at least play the games. I know its works. Ive used it in an Ngage and an Ngage QD
  • Thanks for offering the SIM card to me, but I already ordered one. The seller was really nice, and told me what type of SIM card I needed, so I went ahead and ordered it. But thanks again for the offer.
  • Good luck! Though I'm not sure having a working N-Gage working is good luck..
